If you’ve been to the San Diego Comic Con, you’ve seen all those women dressed in sexy super-heroine costumes. Now you can take them home with you!
Wonder Women Of America, a great new book by Amos Toys’ co-founder Russell Waterman and photographer Ruth Wiggins, celebrates how women at Comic Con choose to express themselves, their interests, their freedom and their sexuality by dressing up as fictional characters.
Shot entirely during 2007’s San Diego Comic Con, Wonder Women Of America features normal everyday women from all walks of life who just happen to be proud of their geeky side and are not afraid to flaunt it. From the sexy to the purposely ridiculous, from the most innovative to those timeless classics, from the artsy shy girl to the super vixen, this book has them all.
The most fascinating aspect about Wonder Women Of America is that hardly any of the super-ladies featured are professional models and none were hired to promote a brand or booth. They are average Janes playing masked avengers, ass-kicking mutants and intergalactic princesses… and they come in all ages, shapes and sizes!
Wonder Women Of America features over 180 shots of more than a hundred characters, with quotes from many of the women giving added insight into why they dress up. Some are hardcore “cosplayers” known on the scene, others dressed up for the first time especially for the occasion.
Published in the UK by Amos Toys, Wonder Women Of America will be available during San Diego Comic Con 2008 exclusively at STRANGEco booth (#4629), on-line at STRANGEco.com and at fine retailers worldwide.
